Vermiglio, The Mountain Bride was Italy’s submission for the 2025 Academy Awards, a sensitive and poetic story about family, origins, the power of femininity and sisterhood, set in the mountains of Italy, and the winner of the Silver Lion at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. Golden Globe 2025 nomination - Best Foreign Film.
We released Vermiglio in Romanian cinemas on 7 March 2025, following its high-profile launch as the opening film of the Visuali Italiane Festival in Bucharest, Romania’s main showcase for contemporary Italian cinema. The opening screening gathered over 250 guests from the cultural, media, and film communities, creating strong early momentum just ahead of the national release.
The release was supported by a carefully curated event strategy, including sold-out preview screenings in Cluj-Napoca, one featuring a live piano introduction inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and another followed by a conversation with psychotherapist and bestselling author Domnica Petrovai. These events proved instrumental in building word-of-mouth and positioning the film beyond a standard theatrical release.
